For our 23rd wedding anniversary, we booked the Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake. We visited a few wineries and some covered bridges, which there are plenty of both in this area, so we thought we would share some of the pics of the bridges.
This bridge is just located off Rt 534 and will more than likely catch your eye as you are driving past it. This was actually the first covered bridge we visited during our time in Ashtabula County.
The Riverdale Road Bridge was down a long gravel road, which seemed to go on forever when you are driving 25 miles per hour. It is definitely one of the more remote covered bridges we encountered, but still very cool.
Our visit to the Giddings Road Covered Bridge was quite a unique experience. As we approached the bridge, there was a golden eagle and a bald eagle fighting over a dead groundhog on the road just in front of the bridge. They each had a piece of the groundhog and were playing tug of war as to who was going to keep the meal. As I got out of the vehicle, they both flew away and you can still see the bald eagle circling above us in this picture. He was upset we interrupted his meal, but I am sure he returned to claim his prize after we left the area. You can also see the groundhog lying there in front of the bridge.
The Netcher Road Covered Bridge was by far my favorite bridge. There is a pretty stream with a rocky shoreline that runs underneath the bridge, rather than just a muddy creek like many of the other bridges we have visited. You can see this in the first picture. This bridge just reminds me of simpler times.
I love these!

They all had fire monitors and security on the inside of them to keep an eye on them as well.

Covered bridges are fantastic! We have one of the oldest in NY state not far from where I live. Perrine’s Covered Bridge.

Love these covered bridges you found. Most of the ones I’ve seen are in New England.
